UNC Charlotte Marriott

When traveling through North Carolina I highly recommend stopping in Charlotte. This city is filled with delicious food, history, art and beautiful accommodations. We recently stayed at the newly opened Marriott at the UNC Charlotte campus. This hotel is directly on the tram line and provides seamless travel to downtown.

Just to the left as you walk in the door this large there panel tapestry hangs in the lobby.

From the moment you walk into this resort and conference center you are welcomed with stunning local art by UNC students, staff, alumni and community members. The hotel is full with all types of media from sculptures, to paintings, to historical adaptations of different events. The instillations are a part of the hotel that allow guests to feel the hotel as a part of the community and less like a stop along the road.

The Golden Owl is the in house restaurant providing chef created dishes for breakfast, lunch, dinner and late night snacks. We had the luck of dining there for a late date night as well as a family style breakfast. For the evening we enjoyed the smoked wings and deviled eggs. Let me tell you, I still have dreams about those deviled eggs. They are soft fresh hard boiled eggs, creamed and toped with Nashville hot chicken.

For breakfast they were able to accommodate our family as well as cautious of dietary needs which is always difficult to find on the road. I suggest grabbing the family and heading there for your morning breakfast or brunch. You won’t be disappointed
Travel the city and don’t forget to stop at all the local bakeries, shops and events in the area. Charlotte has something for everyone!
